The people and philosophy behind snow-dive
Snow-dive emerged from a shared passion among a small group of mountain enthusiasts in 2014. What started as informal trips with friends gradually evolved into structured expeditions as word spread about our approach to winter exploration.
The founders — all experienced mountaineers and outdoor instructors — recognised a gap in the market for winter experiences that combined genuine challenge with thoughtful guidance. Too many operators offered either watered-down tourist excursions or extreme adventures beyond the reach of most participants.
We positioned ourselves in that meaningful middle ground: adventures that push boundaries without recklessness, experiences that educate while they exhilarate.
We believe the winter landscape offers something unique. The challenge of cold, the silence of snowfields, the stark beauty of frost-covered terrain — these elements combine to create transformative experiences unavailable in gentler seasons.
Every expedition we lead aims to foster self-reliance, environmental awareness, and a deeper connection to the natural world. We measure success not in kilometres covered or summits reached, but in the quality of the experience and the lasting impact on our participants.
Experienced professionals who bring knowledge, safety, and enthusiasm to every expedition
Lead Guide and Co-founder. Twenty-three years of mountain experience across three continents. Winter Mountain Leader certified.
Senior Guide and Operations Lead. Former search and rescue volunteer with extensive navigation expertise.
Survival Skills Instructor. Bushcraft specialist with military background and outdoor first aid qualifications.
Guide and Environmental Liaison. Wildlife biologist who brings ecological knowledge to every expedition.
Operating in pristine wilderness areas carries responsibility. We adhere strictly to leave-no-trace principles and actively contribute to conservation efforts.
Our carbon offset programme calculates the footprint of each expedition and channels funds to verified rewilding projects in Scotland. We partner with local conservation groups for annual habitat restoration days, and a portion of every booking supports mountain rescue services.
We also educate participants on responsible outdoor practices, ensuring that the values of conservation extend beyond our expeditions into their own adventures.
